Importing information to RefWorks from ALADIN Discovery
- Conduct your search and click on the title of the item you want to import.
- In the right column, under "Library Services," click "Export to Refworks/Endnote." Please note: On some computers this may say "Export to .ris (eg. zotero)").
- If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) as your browser:
- The default file name is export.ris
- Clicking Save will open a window so you can save the file with the default name or any name you choose, as well as select a location for the file.
- Using Open is not recommended.
- If you are using Mozilla Thunderbird as your browser:
- The default file name is export.ris
- Easiest: Clicking "Save file" will put a copy of the file export.ris on the computer's desktop.
- Most flexible: If you "Open with Notepad," the file name changes to export.ris.txt. Using Notepad's File drop-down menu Save, you can give the file a new name (for example, book1.txt or myfavorite.ris) and/or location.
- Log in to RefWorks.
- Select References/Import from the toolbar.
- Select Gallaudet University as the Import Filter/Data Source.
- Select WRLC (Endeavor Voyager) as the database.
- If desired, choose an Import References into Folder.
- Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
- Click Import.
- Your records should appear in the Last Imported folder, and in the folder you selected in step 11.
